This work presents the development of novel fluorinated graphene (FG)-based resistive humidity sensor. The humidity sensor was fabricated by drop-casting FG suspension, as the humidity sensing material, on silver (Ag)-based interdigitated electrodes (IDEs). The silver-based IDEs were screen printed on a flexible polyimide substrate. The FG suspension was synthesized by uniform dispersion of FG in isopropyl alcohol (IPA), using the ultra-sonication process. The resistive response of the fabric…

Design and rapid prototyping of a tunable and compact microstrip antenna for industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band applications is presented in this paper. Laser machining is introduced as a fast and accurate method for the antenna fabrication. The antenna, with an overall dimension of $65\times 46\times0.127$ mm, was fabricated by sandwiching a flexible Kapton polyimide substrate, with a dielectric constant of 3.5, between two flexible copper tapes, as the radiating patch and ground …

A novel capacitive pressure sensor based on micro-structured polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) dielectric layer was developed for wearable E-skin and touch sensing applications. The pressure sensor was fabricated on a flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate, using PDMS and silver (Ag) as the dielectric and electrode layers, respectively. A set of PDMS films with pyramid shaped micro-structures were fabricated using a laser engraved acrylic mold. The electrodes (top and bottom) were fabr…

In the current study, we used a naturalistic design to examine how client attachment orientations affect changes in client mental health over the course of treatment. We evaluated session-by-session changes in overall maladjustment levels (derived from the Outcome Questionnaire 45.2) in a sample of 105 adult clients who were seeking therapy at a large, university-based, outpatient psychology training clinic. The primary goal of this study was to investigate how client attachment orientations …

Nontechnical SummarySemiconductor materials form the basis for practically all electronics, from solar cells and solid state lighting, to complex integrated circuits such as microprocessors. Nevertheless, despite a century of investigation, researchers are still making fundamental discoveries in this field ? discoveries which lead to improved device performance, reduced manufacturing cost, or streamlined integration with other technologies. The project activity is based on the unexpected…

The Food and Drug Administration recommends that retrievable inferior vena cava filters (IVCFs) be removed 29-54 days postinsertion. Nationally, the retrieval rate is around 23-25%. The objectives of this study are to assess the effect of a plan for IVCF retrieval and access to an office endovascular center (OEC) on filter removal rates and to assess the safety of the procedure in an OEC.In this institutional review board-exempt retrospective study, the medical records of all patients who had…

The goal of this research is the identification of new treatments for neuropathic pain. We characterized the GABAergic system of immortalized mouse and human microglia using electrophysiology and qRT-PCR. Cells from both species exhibited membrane current changes in response to γ-aminobutyric acid, with an EC of 260 and 1940 nM, respectively. Human microglia expressed high levels of the γ-aminobutyric acid type A receptor (GABAR) α subunit, which can assemble with β and γ/δ subunits to form f…

Within this short commentary, we explore the notion of pivoting; following major exogenous shocks, firms often contemplate business model pivoting where they change product or service offerings to capitalise on emerging opportunities. We assess the potential bright and dark sides of pivoting for new and existing firms in regard to quality of opportunities, fit with current capabilities and potential costs. The extant literature suggests that two forms of opportunities exist, arbitrage and inn…

Purpose The feasibility of a collaborative referencing intervention (CRI) for adults with chronic aphasia has been documented in two descriptive case studies (Devanga, 2014; Hengst et al., 2010, 2008). The current Phase II mixed-methods treatment study replicates the CRI with four additional participants (using interpretive research) and investigates how it impacts a traditional measure, participants' confrontational naming abilities, outside of game play (using multiple-probe single-case exp…
