Mycobacteriophages Candle, Schatzie, Sumter, and Waleliano were isolated from soil using the host bacterium mc155. Candle, Schatzie, and Sumter were discovered in Alabama and Waleliano in Maryland. The bacteriophages have been assigned clusters based on nucleotide similarity, as follows: Candle, R; Schatzie, J; Sumter, A1; and Waleliano, B4.

Simulation provides a safe, controlled environment for learning. Using faculty-led role modeling during simulation as a classroom learning experience provides an opportunity for both inductive and reflective learning. Role modeling occurs when a behavior or skill is demonstrated and then duplicated by an observer. Inductive learning and reflection in faculty-led simulations allow the student an opportunity to observe behaviors and create new knowledge by using prior and newly presented knowle…

Summary This article examined a variant of the Capability Maturity Model integrated (CMMi) through the lens of advertising process improvement. The population and sample were taken from a national array of U.S. marketing organizations. Using ANOVA, a 0.05 significance level, and a stratification of service marketing organizations versus product marketing organizations, the study showed a statistically significant difference (F(1, 304) = 4.03; p = 0.04; ω2 = 0.00) regarding the hypothesis repr…

We replicated and extended ( = 207) work on the social values (i.e., obedience, tradition, security, benevolence, universalism, self-direction, stimulation, hedonism, achievement, and power) linked to the Dark Triad traits (i.e., narcissism, psychopathy, and Machiavellianism). Each of the traits was positively associated with values of achievement and power. Psychopathy and narcissism were both negatively correlated with benevolence, and psychopathy and Machiavellianism were negatively correl…

Developing a strong STEM teacher workforce is essential to improve K-12 (kindergarten to 12th grade) STEM education and strengthening the STEM talent pipeline in the United States. Based on the successful experience in Project Engage, a grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education, this chapter proposes an authentic and sustainable four-dimensional STEM professional development model. Grounded on social constructivist and interactive approaches, this professional development model is inte…

Bacteriophages Kwksand96 and Cane17 were isolated from Mycobacterium smegmatis mc155. M. smegmatis is host to the highest number of phages analyzed from one species. Both mycobacteriophages were isolated from soil in west Alabama. Kwksand96 and Cane17 belong to subclusters B1 and C1, respectively, based on mycobacteriophage nucleotide sequence similarity.

This article considers social media as a radicalization venue within the context of terrorism. The 2016 extremist/terrorist attack in Orlando, Florida showed the potential of an ISIS type extremist organization to leverage social media toward a lethal outcome within American society. While the ISIS organization originated overseas in a culture of which mainstream American society is unfamiliar, it is in many ways remarkable the level of success they quickly achieved connecting globally. Their…
