The internalizing psychopathologies (IP) are a highly prevalent group of disorders for which little data exists to guide treatment selection. We examine whether graph theoretical metrics from white matter connectomes may serve as biomarkers of disease and predictors of treatment response. We focus on the uncinate fasciculus subnetwork, which has been previously implicated in these disorders. We compared baseline graph measures from a transdiagnostic IP cohort with controls. Patients were rand…

It is unclear whether posterior hip precautions after primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) reduce the incidence of early postoperative dislocation. We performed a prospective randomized study to evaluate the effect of hip precautions on incidence of early dislocation after primary THA using a posterior approach. Between January 2016 and April 2019, 587 patients (594 hips) were consented and randomized into restricted or unrestricted groups. No significant demographic or surgical differences ex…

The role of post mastectomy radiation therapy (PMRT) in patients with N1mic breast cancer has not been well defined. A retrospective analysis was performed using the SEER database to evaluate the impact of PMRT on survival in patients with N1mic breast cancer.Women with T1-T2, N1mic, M0 breast cancer who had undergone mastectomy were analyzed. Descriptive statistics were calculated for all variables. Univariate analysis to assess for differences in survival with respect to covariates was perf…

Little information exists regarding longer-term outcomes with minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS), particularly regarding long-segment and deformity procedures. We aimed to evaluate intermediate-term outcomes of MISS for adult spinal deformity (ASD).This retrospective review of a prospectively collected multicenter database examined outcomes at 4 or more years following circumferential MIS (cMIS) or hybrid (HYB) surgery for ASD. A total of 53 patients at 8 academic centers satisfied the f…

The ability to perceive differences in environmental contrast is critical for navigating complex environments safely. People with Parkinson's disease (PD) report a multitude of visual and cognitive deficits which may impede safe obstacle negotiation and increase fall risk. Enhancing obstacle contrast may influence the content of visual information acquired within complex environments and thus target environmental fall risk factors. 17 PD with a history of falls and 18 controls walked over an …

Deficits in cognition, social cognition, and motivation are significant predictors of poor functional outcomes in schizophrenia. Evidence of durable benefit following social cognitive training is limited. We previously reported the effects of 70 h of targeted cognitive training supplemented with social cognitive exercises (TCT + SCT) verses targeted cognitive training alone (TCT). Here, we report the effects six months after training.111 participants with schizophrenia spectrum disorders were…

Case-control.The aim of this study was to evaluate fusion rates and compare a stand-alone cage construct with an anterior-plate construct in the setting revision anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) for adjacent segment disease.Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion are considered the criterion standard of surgical treatment for cervical myelopathy and radiculopathy. One common consequence is adjacent segment disease. Treatment of adjacent segment disease is complicated by the prev…

Myoclonus-dystonia is an inherited disorder characterized by a combination of myoclonic jerks and dystonia. Mutations in the epsilon-sarcoglycan gene (SGCE) represent the main known genetic cause. In the last few years, deep brain stimulation (DBS) has shown significant promise in treating these patients. There is only one report in the literature of a patient with positive SGCE mutation and isolated myoclonus phenotype who has been successfully treated with DBS.We present a case of a 16-year…

We aimed to identify existing outcome measures for functional neurological disorder (FND), to inform the development of recommendations and to guide future research on FND outcomes.A systematic review was conducted to identify existing FND-specific outcome measures and the most common measurement domains and measures in previous treatment studies. Searches of Embase, MEDLINE and PsycINFO were conducted between January 1965 and June 2019. The findings were discussed during two international me…
