Abstract Objectives Identify, compare sleep habit questionnaires for use in a study of college student's body compositions, and academic performances. Methods Decades of research supports the importance of proper sleep habits for college students for optimum academic performances and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Instrument that can identify students who experience sleep disturbances and who do not get enough sleep is important in preventing obesity in college students during their college…

Research Initiation Awards provide support for junior and mid-career faculty at Historically Black Colleges and Universities who are building new research programs or redirecting and rebuilding existing research programs. It is expected that the award helps to further the faculty member's research capability and effectiveness, improves research and teaching at the home institution, and involves undergraduate students in research experiences. The award to Central State University investigates …

In this paper, we study the relativistic effects in a three-body bound state. For this purpose, the relativistic form of the Faddeev equations is solved in momentum space as a function of the Jacobi momentum vectors without using a partial wave decomposition. The inputs for the three-dimensional Faddeev integral equation are the off-shell boost two-body t-matrices, which are calculated directly from the boost two-body interactions by solving the Lippmann-Schwinger equation. The matrix element…

Thiamethoxam (TMX) represents the second generation of neonicotinoids that has been widely applied in agricultural activities, while how TMX alters the behavior of Apis cerana, an important native honey bee species in China, is not clear. We carried out three independent experiments to study the impact of acute oral treatment of 20 μL TMX at concentrations of 2.4 ppb (0.048 ng/bee) and 10 ppb (0.2 ng/bee) on the homing, flight, learning acquisition and short-term retention ability of A. ceran…

We examine the practical implementation of an evolutionary algorithm to solve a pursuit evasion problem. In this problem, an Attacker and a Target move about an infinite plane with constant speeds. The Target moves in a constant circle, whereas the Attacker is free to change its direction with a bounded turn rate. The goal of the Attacker is to capture the Target in minimum time. We used pursuit evasion robots to physically model this problem and implement an evolutionary algorithm to evaluat…

This Research Experience for Teachers (RET) focuses on international engineering research based on human-centered design and appropriate technology for developing countries. This RET site is a collaborative effort between the University of Dayton (UD) and Central State University (CSU) that will engage both in-service and pre-service teachers with hands-on research experiences with both domestic and international community partners. Participants will engage in a transformative, twelve month e…
